Truckload Shipping
Release time: 2022-07-28
If you are looking to ship by truckload you will have to take several steps.
Pre-Shipping Steps:
- Choose a shipping service provider. This will depend on your budget, type of cargo, and distance of shipment.
- Package your cargo properly. Depending on what type of cargo you are sending, you will want to make sure it is secured for the ride.
- Determine the weight and cubic of the items being shipped. This is important for the trucking company so they can determine how much you will be charged.
- Get quotes from shipping service companies. This can help you to compare prices and choose appropriate shipping services for your truckload shipment.
During Shipping:
- Obtain a bill of lading. This document is required at the loading dock and details the shipper's name, receiver’s name, description of goods, and other necessary information.
- Make sure all paperwork is completed and up-to-date. This will ensure that your truckload shipment is legally compliant and can pass any inspections or audits while in transit.
- Load your cargo onto the truck properly. It is important to use the right lifting techniques and secure the cargo to the pallet or vehicle properly.
Post-Shipping:
- Receive the delivery and check the contents. Make sure nothing has been damaged during shipping and that all the cargo is present.
- Complete any post-shipment paperwork. Depending on the service provider there might be other documents to sign such as acceptance letters or proof of delivery.
- Follow up with billing and payments. After the successful delivery of your shipment, you will need to settle any bills or invoices associated with the shipping transaction.
